Welcome to Casa da Felicidade, our House of Happiness!

Casa da Felicidade is located along the famous Rota do Românico in the small village of Gatão, 4.5 km from the town of Amarante.
It has a fully-detached, self-contained guesthouse that sleeps two.

Amarante is a small town in the north of Portugal, about 65 km or a 1 hour car ride east of Porto. It is a town with a rich history, which is reflected in landmarks such as the Ponte de São Gonçalo, which dates back to Roman times, and the Igreja de São Gonçalo, both named after Amarante’s patron saint. Take a stroll along the Tâmega river or enjoy a galão in one of the many pastelarias. Amarante is a lively town, with different events on every month. Food lovers will not be disappointed, as there are restaurants to suit every budget.

The Douro region is famous for its wines, and Amarante is the perfect starting point to explore some of the region’s best vinho verde. Archeology lovers can explore to their hearts’ content in nearby sites such as Tongobriga, Castelo de Arnoia and Citânia de Briteiros. For city dwellers, the historical town of Guimarães, an absolute must-see, is only a 45 min drive away. The city centre of Porto is easily reached by bus (1 hour ride).

Amarante and its surroundings are most easily reached by car, as public transport to some sites is limited.

Casa da Felicidade is the perfect starting point to explore all that this region has to offer. Come and be feliz!
